This family is very special to me, because the mom Jen is one of my South Florida Hermana’s. She’s also a lover of old school Hip Hop. We met in Zumba class several years ago and I immediately fell in love with her loving personality. This incredible woman had not one, but two sets of twins. Let that sink in for a minute… The patience both of these parents have is inspiring to say the least. They might not think so, but they are a huge inspiration to many of us. My husband and I barely survived raising our 7 year old daughter. We are all just trying to figure it out day by day and these beautiful people definitely get what life is all about with an abundance of love and thankfulness. I gave them an exercise to share a new promise to each other without saying a word. They could only use their eyes to convey this emotion. I was so impressed with their ability to share without words and be in the moment together fully connected. To capture such a beautiful moment is a true gift as a photographer. The boys and I were geeking out to Star Wars and my girl Angie was trying to take over my session to be the photographer. She definitely has an artistic eye. Documentary sessions are my favorite and it’s why I insisted that Jen do this with her beautiful family. The kids wanted to ride scooters – so we did that! They were hot and wanted to go swimming – so we did that too! These sessions are all about capturing your family exactly as they are, minimal editing and in a location that’s comfortable for you. I am always down for posed sessions, but documentary photography really sets my soul on fire!
“Home is people. Not a place. If you go back there after the people are gone, then all you can see is what is not there any more.”
